Cyprus got thousands of Russian Citizen living on its ground, something nearly 50.000 people living for most of them permanently. As a consequence it is possible to vote for the Russian President in other place than to the ambassy based in Nicosia the Capital of Cyprus. I am myself French and I was surprised on the way it was lead and the text below reflect my opinion and I would be pleased to get added information and opposite arguments. Basically it worked this way : 1) you queue ; 2) you register with your passport ; no need to have proof of address not even to know your address ! They hand write your name, surname and passport number on a form and give you another form to select your favorit ; 3) you select your favorit in the an hidden place; 4) you make your paper small in order to enter the box* and put it yourself in it. NB : The person who check if you are not putting to many paper is not alway here or talk to other people... *box : metal stuff closed with a basic l! ocker with a stamped paper fixed with...basic tape ! 5) it is finish you can go in another office to vote (4 just for Cyprus). Things must improve for sure but democracy process is a long one ! Russia has everything to learn from the end of USSR. We cant expect that everything will be perfect and in right order from a day to another...
