Something rarely seen is footage of preproduction aircraft being put through their paces and the variations in marking carried by a particular aircraft. Although the commentary discusses the F/A-18E Super Hornet, the footage shows the first two F/A-18F Super hornets F1 and F2 being put through their carrier trials. F1s BuNo was 165166 and F2 being 165170. Look out for the differences in the marking of F1 from its arrival onto the carrier and and later on in its trails. Interestingly F1 was used as Boeings demonstrator for the EA-18G Growler and various sales photos was shown with either 3 or 5 ECM pods with 1 ALQ-218 pod on the left wing tip.
